So… What is Training?

Training is a core Medsin and IFMSA activity. In practical terms, trainers deliver workshops on topics in leadership and project management, helping to ensure that members run their branches and projects in the very most effective way possible.

Medsin has a network of experienced trainers, most of whom have attended a Training New Trainers course (run either by IFMSA at their General Assemblies, or by Medsin itself). They are available to provide training on a local or national level through the Medsin Training Director.

Why get Trained?

Training offers: Skills in leadership

Project management tips

Planning strategies

Methods of addressing conflict

Ways to approach continuity

Training offers new ways of thinking about familiar problems within the organisation. It helps to address weaknesses and plan for better, more productive, more successful and sustainable projects and branches. Just what Medsin needs to keep things going!

How do I get Trained?

Training is available at all Medsin’s national events:

  • Both Spring and Autumn General Assemblies
  • National Conference
  • Global Health Conference

In addition, training can be offered at branch or project level by contacting the Training Director. Wherever possible, we will find trainers to meet branch or project needs. For convenience, when you contact the Training Director, please suggest a few weekends or evenings when training would be convenient to you – not all branches have trainers local to them and we may need to find someone prepared to travel!

We hope in the future to be able to fund trainers’ travel to training events. In the meantime, please consider offering a contribution towards trainers’ transport costs.

Don’t forget, there are loads of training resources available online in the shape of Medsin’s Branch Resource pack – you can download it from www.medsin.org/resources.
