All About Medsin Email Addresses

Who gets a Medsin E-Mail address?

Every branch, National Committee and Activities Board member and nationally recognised project is entitled to a Medsin e-mail address – an address ending in @medsin.org and specific to their role. Branches are entitled to branchname@medsin.org (for example, nottingham@medsin.org); National Committee and Activities Board members have addresses relating to their position (for example, fairtrade@medsin.org and secretary@medsin.org).

Why have a Medsin E-Mail address?

  1. They look professional
  2. They are easy to remember!
  3. It means the contact details on the website don’t need to be constantly updated – the contacts for Southampton will always be at southampton@medsin.org
  4. It is really quick to get it sorted out – one e-mail is all it takes!

How do the addresses work?

They simply redirect mail to another email address of your choice. These redirects can be set-up to send mail to more than one address. For example, committee@medsin.org redirects mail to all of the individual national committee members email accounts.

How can I send mail so it comes from my medsin.org address?

The medsin.org address is just a virtual address, you can't sign-in like a normal email account. That means that every time you reply to an email sent to your medsin.org address, it will say it has come from your personal email account rather than your medsin.org address.

There are ways around this problem, but the solution depends on what email client or webmail service you use. As many of the national committee use gmail, there is a walkthrough available for this service.

For any other email client or webmail service, please contact their technical support.

I want a Medsin E-mail address – what do I do?

If you are a nationally recognised branch or project, e-mail webmaster@medsin.org to get a Medsin e-mail address set up. DON’T FORGET to include:

  • Your position (e.g. President, Medsin-Manchester)
  • The e-mail address you would like e-mails to be redirected to
