Workshops

  • Have workshop descriptions in the conference booklet - you will need to have a deadline for people to propose workshops a couple of weeks in advance in order to do this.

  • Make sure there is plenty of information about each workshop (eg the name of the workshop, the name of the person running it, what will be covered in it, where it will take place and if it will be repeated in another workshop slot).

  • Have a board with information about who is running what workshops and where. Any changes can be added to this.

  • Clearly mark the door of the room that each workshop takes place in.

  • If possible run all workshops near to each other to avoid people going to the wrong place.

  • Have one person in charge of checking at the beginning of EVERY workshop that the room is set up ok and has someone running a workshop as well as some attendees.

  • Limit the number of spaces for signing up to a workshop according to how many delegates you have.

  • There needs to be a one-hour block of workshops exclusively for training and project & campaign development such that all delegates at the conference go through key skill training at the same time. The training may be done by Medsin trainers or from guest organizations. Contact the training director to help organise this.

  • Please remember to include a mixture of student-led workshops and external workshops. Invite Medsin members, projects and campaigns to run workshops at the conference, through the VP for Projects, the Campaigns Director and the VP for Branches.
