What is SKIP?

S.K.I.P. (Students for Kids International Projects) is a registered charity (no. 1099804) working towards sending healthcare professional students from every medical school in the UK, to work with children in conjunction with overseas partners in developing countries.

We have two clear aspects to our work:

FOR THE STUDENTS

We aim to provide multidisciplinary teams of healthcare students with a global health experience that allows them autonomous input into a development based project. We hope to improve their personal and professional experince as well as their cultural sensitivity and understanding.

FOR THE KIDS

We aim to establish community integrated projects in developing countries focused on supporting and improving the helath welfare and education of vulnerable children. We hope to acheive sustainability for all our projects through initiating interventions through needs assessment in conjunction with local partners and encouraging handover of information, education and responsibility to local communities.

Ultimate Objective

For each community to be able to effectively support its children.

For Healthcare students to be more globally and cuturally aware, gain practical undertsanding of the wider determinants of health and be able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Ultimately we aim to not be needed!
