Want to be next year's training director?
The position of training director on next year’s national committee is still available, it could be you! It has been deceided to reopen nominations for the position, which will close at 2359 on the 3rd June. This will be followed by an e vote amongst voting members, and the successful candidate will then be appointed by the national committee, to be approved at the AGA.
If you are interested in running for this position then send a 500 word statement of motivation to the national committee before 2359 on June 3rd 2007. If selected you will need to present a candidature form, signed by your branch president to the AGA, otherwise your election will be invalid.
It is strongly recommended that candidates have attended a TNT workshop so that they fully understand the needs of training within the network. For more information on what the role of training director involves click here or contact Joel.

Global Health Day
Medsin's Global Health Seminar was held on Saturday, with the topic of Health as a Foreign Policy and was a great success. There were fantastic talks by Rhona MacDonald, Alan Ingram, Salam Obaidi and Derek Summerfield on subjects such as security and health, conflict and health, and a personal perspective on health in Iraq. This was followed by an fascinating discussion between the speakers and the audience.
To follow on from this, the theme of the Lancet student online forum is changing to "Health as a Foreign Policy". To find out more about this, please visit the website and get writing those articles!
Birthday Party
The global health day was followed by Medsin's 10th birthday party attended by current and past Medsin members, and also some of our external contacts. It was a great success, everyone had a great time and we made about £113!!! There are plans to make this a regular event, so watch out for details of the next one! Pictures to appear on the website soon - and don't forget to upload photos of your Medsin events, and view those of previous events here.
Let's make global health part of the medical course
Only a few medical schools in the UK offer courses in global health, and even fewer recognise the importance of taking a broad perspective on health by genuinely integrating international health throughout medical curricula.
The Global Health Education Project (GHEP) want to hear about work that you have been doing to try to persuade your medical school to address this deficit.
In particular, we would like to hear from you about proposals submitted to your medical school for greater inclusion of global health education in the curriculum, whether or not they have been successful.
Our aim is to compile a database of resources so that we can share them amongst the network and learn from each other's experiences.
Please send any useful proposals/course outlines to Rob and Vanessa.
