Medsin-UK is the national member organisation of the IFMSA, through which students interests in medical education, community and global health are represented by a global network consisting of over 1.2 million medical students.

The IFMSA Team of Officials meets regularly throughout the year to strategically plan and discuss how best this inspiringly large global network can be maintained and improved. The next 2 meetings of the IFMSA officials shall take place during the 19th to the 24th of October 2010, and following that the 26th to the 31st of December 2010.

Hosting a meeting will involve some amount of fundraising, arranging accommodation and space to work from but is a great opportunity for your branch to understand & engage with our international representatives, and will be great for Medsin-UK to gain strength from its dynamic partnership in policy, advocacy, training and global project management. The National Committee therefore are very keen to host an international meeting and would love for you to get in touch if you are interested in helping out!

Team of Officials Meeting 1

19th October: EB Arrival 20th October: EB Meeting and TO Arrival 21st October: TOM 22nd October: TOM 23rd October: TOM 24th October: Departure

Team of Officials Meeting 2

26th December: EB Arrival 27th December: EB Meeting and TO Arrival 28th December: TOM 29th December: TOM 30th December: TOM 31st December: Departure / NYE Celebration

Introduction:

The Team of Officials Meeting (TOM) is an event where all IFMSA Officials meet and discuss IFMSA management in between General Assembly meetings. There are five TOMs throughout the year. In general, meetings usually last for 3 working days. National Member Organizations are welcome to apply for hosting TOM1, 2 and 4. While TOM 3, 5 and 0-handover are held in connection with IFMSA March and August Meeting. The decision about the date and venue is made by the Team of Officials, the application process is coordinated by the Executive Board.

The decision on venue is based on:

• Possibility of IFMSA Officials coming to the meeting • Low participation fee • All sections of the application form • Geographic distribution of TOMs

The schedule may look the following:

• Wednesday: arrival day • Thursday: working day 1 • Friday: working day 2 • Saturday: working day 3 • Sunday: departure

Prior to the Team of Officials Meeting, there is an Executive Board Meeting (EBM). This meeting lasts for one day, usually during the TOM arrival day, with Executive Board members arriving the day before (Tuesday).

The registration fee should not be higher then 100 Euros and should cover the following:

  • accommodation and boarding for the meeting - 4 nights (+ the extra night for EB members)
  • meeting venue (with projector, flip chart/markers, possibility to print and/or copy, access to the Internet)

Should you have any questions or inquiries, please contact the Executive Board. If you are interested to host TOM, please fill-in the application form (separate document) and submit it to the Executive Board within the deadlines as announced in calls over NMOs list.
