Applications are now open for the position of National Exchange Officer in the International Federation of Medical Student Association's Exchange Programme.

This is the largest student-run exchange programme in the world. We organise 4-week long clinical exchanges between medical students in the UK and around 100 countries across the world. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to coordinate the UK exchanges. Undoubtedly, being a NEO is a rewarding and exciting experience. Its a fantastic job that allows you to meet many motivated and enthusiastic individuals; but it's also quite a lot of work! You have to be hard working and creative with your solutions! Being a NEO doesnt require a lot of experience, but there is a steep learning curve. If you think you're up to the challenge... let us know! ;o)

Job description:

  • Attend 2+ International meetings: August Meeting 2010 (Canada) and March Meeting 2011 (TBC), also Sub Regional Training weekends in Europe (TBC)
  • Attend National Medsin Conferences
  • Organise a LEO training weekend: Oct/Nov 2010
  • Oversee the smooth running of the SCOPE exchange programme - for students coming to the UK (Incoming)
    • Support Local Exchange Officers in our 8 local university branches
    • Negotiate exchange contracts with other countries
    • Ensure all Incoming students have the correct paperwork
    • Help Incoming students obtain UK Visas
    • Oversee the smooth running of the Incoming social programme
    • Problem solving and responding to queries/requests from other NEOs/LEOs/Students

You will be working alongside Simon Tallowin (NEO Outgoing) and will receive a substantial handover with training in all of the above - so don't worry about experience - its more about motivation and enthusiasm!!!
