EuWHO!

The Global Health Education Project (GHEP) are excited to announce our plans to host the very first Pan-European World Health Organisation Simulation (EuWHO) in December 2010. This ambitious event aims to bring together over 200 future leaders in health, to raise awareness of the political structures governing health.

By understanding the politics, we hope to empower students to be key players and advocates in the decisions and policies that influence global health.

Aims

  • Foster interprofessional relationships amongst all students interested in global health
  • Inform and raise awareness about key global health issues
  • Provide a means for students to gain awareness of the proactive role they can have in international health policy
  • Acquaint students with the role of the WHO in global health issues
  • Provide exposure to the political and economic forces at play in the decision making process of the WHO
  • Develop policy statements and contribute to the local, national and international discussions on global health policy

This promises to be an invigorating simulation, and we are looking for motivated, enthusiastic people who are passionate about global health (or indeed the WHO!) to get involved in organising this event.

At this stage we are looking for an expression of interest rather than an official application, but to give you an idea of some of the roles:

Secretary, Logistic coordinators, Webmaster, Theme Coordinators, Publicity & Marketing Coordinators, Fundraising Coordinators, Treasurer, Registration Coordinator, UN Liaison Coordinator, Chairs (appointed closer to the event)

We envisage that we will need a team of approximately 20 people.

Please email Gemma & Paul, ghep@medsin.org if you are interested in joining the team
