CALL for national campaign coordinators!

Are you passionate about tackling inequalities in health, and global health injustices?

Medsin are looking for national coordinators for their current campaigns, and for people interested in proposing campaigns for the network to support and act upon in 2009/10.

Campaign coordinators have a place on the Campaigns Team, which is chaired by the Campaigns Director. The coordinator acts as the leading facilitator for deciding on the focus, plan of action, and nature of campaigning and actions that take place within one year.

Current campaigns that you may wish to apply to coordinate are:

Health Systems

Healthy Planet

Defend Primary Health Care

Water4all

Universities Allied for Essential Medicines

Save our NHS

StopAIDS

Arms Trade

Malaria and Neglected Diseases

International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons

For more information on what any of the above positions would entail, email campaigns@medsin.org, and look at the campaigns section of the Medsin website at www.medsin.org/campaigns where the contacts of the current coordinator can be found.

So what do you need to do!

a) For campaign coordinator applications write a 500 word statement of motivation to be sent to president@medsin.org by midnight on Friday 17th April

b) Get your branch president to sign a candidature form, to be handed to the committee by midday on Saturday 25th April in Bristol

c) Give a 3 minute speech at the SGA in Bristol

To find out more about the different jobs, how to apply and to get your candidature form go to http://www.medsin.org/about/nationalcommittee/apply

PRIORITY CAMPAIGNS

Priority campaigns are elected at the SGA to receive preferential support in newsletters, actions and receive individual voting rights. If you already have a campaign, or are proposing a campaign (See below) why not consider if it should be Priority next year?

Send a request to campaigns@medsin.org by the 17th of April accompanied with a short rationale and the SGA will vote for four. Get in touch if you have any questions!

WHAT IF I HAVE A REALLY GREAT NEW IDEA FOR A CAMPAIGN?

Propose it!

Any voting member may propose a campaign for national Medsin-UK recognition by sending a written campaign proposal to the national committee. Visit http://www.medsin.org/getinvolved/newcampaigns to find a proposal form and tips on how to plan a campaign.

The National Committee will review the proposal and advise the General Assembly regarding recognition of the campaign at the Spring General Assembly.

a) Fill in the campaign proposal form

b) E-mail this to committee@medsin.org by Friday 17th April

c) Get in touch if you have any questions and the result will be confirmed at the SGA!
