UN passes resolution on sex and sexuality education in schools

Thanks to our friends at Sexpression for this one!

For the first time ever the Commission on Population and Development agreed on a resolution that stated that governments should "Provide young people with evidence-based and comprehensive education on human sexuality, on sexual and reproductive health, human rights, and gender equality." Pretty awesome stuff. The best part is that the UK government signed this resolution so now we have a great basis for arguing that the government should live up to it's promise.

David Lawrence (Sexpression National Coordinator 2010-2011) attended the meeting, if you want to read more about it click here

WHO report recommends comprehensive sexuality education before young people become sexually active

This report from the World Health Organisation follows on from an extensive study that was performed in Europe entitled 'Health Behaviour in School Aged Children' Just more evidence that sexuality education is essential in our schools! Read the full report here (warning: Its massive, there is probably a summary available somewhere!)
