19th International AIDS Conference gets underway
This week more than 23,000 delegates from over 195 countries will be gathering in Washington, D.C. for the 19th International AIDS Conference. Medsin's very own Eva Wooding, previously Sexpression National Coordinator, gives an introduction to the conference in her latest blog post. Hollie Kluczewski, the current Sexpression National Coordiantor, gives her thoughts on the youth pre-conference here.
Delegates will be asked to sign The Washington, D.C. Declaration which calls for renewed urgency and seeks to build broad support for beginning to end the AIDS epidemic through a nine-point action plan. Key speakers include UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (via video), World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim and UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé.
