CONSULTATION ON REGULATIONS GOVERNING ACCESS TO NHS FOR OVERSEAS VISITORS
A DH consultation '...on proposed changes to the charging Regulations for overseas visitors requiring hospital treatment and the recovery of any charges, and also initial thinking around possible future introduction of health insurance for some visitors' has recently been made public.
The Medact and Medsin have produced a resource for those wanting to respond to the Department of Health consultation on access to the NHS for foreign nationals - we are hoping this will be useful for students as well as members of the migrant and asylum seeker community to respond.
The website includes a range of information and resources including:
- a model response
- responses of key organisations
- briefing documents
- a short film made by Daniel Harding
- further information on specific areas of concern
- a comment and discussion area
Please visit the website to find out how to respond to the consultation. It is important that as many people as possible respond to the consultation which closes on 30 June 2010. Encourage as many people as you can to to do the same and to use resources like the website to take action!
The Entitlement campaign will be writing a response and if you're interested in contributing please do not hesitate to get in touch and let us know.
