Global Health Advocacy Project (GhAP)

Lizzie Moore (Sheffield) and Tom Yates (UCL) are acting as GhAP administrators. You can email them on ghapteam AT medsin.org with any queries.

Lizzie

Lizzie is usually a medical student in sunny Sheffield but is currently studying International Health at UCL.

Tom

Tom Yates is a student at UCL. He was involved in the peace movement before coming to university. He successfully campaigned for a Fairtrade Policy at UCL Union and for the union to join the Nestle boycott. He has volunteered for Medact and for the Treatment Action Campaign.

Dave

Dave Biles is a student at Bristol. Before becoming involved in GhAP he worked on a fairtrade campaign at Bristol University. He has a BSc in International Health. He is really intersted in HIV AIDS.

Nat

My name is Natalie and I'm a medical student at Bristol. I had no campaigning experience before joining GhAP which just goes to show that anyone with any level of experience can get involved.

Jienchi

I'm Jienchi. I was involved in Crossing Borders, a Medsin project, in Bristol, mainly doing voluntary work with refugees. I joined GhAP as I don't know very much about campaigning but think it is one of the best ways to make a difference, especially with refugee issues which i'm particularily interested in.

Ed

Since learning to talk and toddle around, Ed has been constant trouble. The last time he threw his toys out of the pram was when he learned about the undemocratic way in which the director general of the World Health Organisation was elected. Ed coordinated that campaign. He is also involved with the Imperial Global Health Forums and occasionally throws his weight around at the RSM. A precocious youngster, he somehow obtained a BSc in International Health along the way.

Roise

Rosie trained at UCL and is an excited member of GHAP. In 2006 she stayed up all night addressing letters to health ministers worldwide for Who for the WHO. She also works for a small NGO in Eastern Kenya. She enjoys holding tortoises, and thinking up ways to help doctors get political!

Catherine

Catherine does her best to keep up with everyone else. When she doesn't manage that she makes the tea and stuffs envelopes. She is a UCL medic.

Vanessa

Vanessa Jessop says, "I am Edinburgh medic and I am involved with the Defend Primary Healthcare Campaign, enjoying having an excuse to travel to London...whilst improving my campaigning skills of course(!), and raising awareness north of the border."
