SCORA-EXCHANGE in Sweden 2007

In September 2007, 8th-30th, SCORA-Sweden arranges the 8th Exchange on HIV and AIDS in Sweden. The exchange, which is an international training programme on HIV and AIDS for medical students, is organized by IFMSA-Sweden and national SCORA groups, this year in Lund/Malmö, Gothenburg, Uppsala and Umeå.

The aim of the exchange is to raise awareness and increase the knowledge about HIV/AIDS as a global issue among medical students. This is done by offering medical students from different parts of the world an opportunity to obtain new knowledge and exchange ideas and experiences in this specific field.

5 students will be selected to participate. Comprising theory and practice, the participants will be offered an overview of the HIV issue from a wide range of perspectives, this year you will get in contact with epidemiology, syringe exchange programmes and other prevention strategies, treatment strategies, laboratory techniques and testing procedures, research seminars, peer education, gender and project management among other subjects…

The exchange also includes a number of social activities, which we hope will make the participating students feel at home in Sweden.

The applicants are chosen to represent a mix as diverse as possible of different countries and continents, which we hope will enable a creative exchange of information and ideas between the students. To make sure this is achieved, the exchange is focused on seminars with a number of clinicians and other professionals.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Transports and accommodation are covered, as well as 2 meals a day.

If possible, travel to and from Sweden will be sponsored for some participants. Those applicants, who think they will be considered for this type of travel assistance, are kindly requested to motivate this in the letter of motivation.
