What is the IFMSA?
The IFMSA stands for the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations and is a group of medical students from all over the world. The IFMSA's mission is "to offer future physicians a comprehensive introduction to global health issues. Through our programming and opportunities, we develop culturally sensitive students of medicine, intent on influencing the trans-national inequalities that shape the health of our planet"

What happens at an IFMSA GA?
There will be meetings of the standing committees of IFMSA, so if you're interested in public health, refugees and human rights, reproductive health and AIDS, professional exchanges or medical education please do consider coming!
In addition, there will be an opportunity to explore the theme Conflict and Health through theme events, an opportunity to develop your skills through training and a chance to tell our countries about Medsin's activities.
As well as the meeting there will be the opportunity for delegates to attend a 'Pre-GA', which is a 3 day pre meeting workshop. Past topics have included: Peer Education, Global health, Medical Ethics, Malaria and more! The Pre-GA workshops will be decided soon! Delegates are also required to attend a pre Tunisia preparation day, which will be held in late January/early February.
How much does it cost?
The registration fee for the GA has not yet been confirmed but will be around £265. This fee includes the cost of the conference (inc. food & accommodation) as well as medsin campaign's t-shirts.
The registration fee for the Pre-GA will be around £100.
How do I apply?
So if you're interested in going to Tunisia, learning about global health, meeting people from other cultures and developing skills please fill in the application form (attached to the page) and email it president@medsin.org by midnight on Monday 27th October 2008.
There are always many more applications than places. For that reason you should spend time on your application form - you need to sell yourself. Feel free to change the sizes of the boxes in the word document, but bear in mind that the National Committee have to read lots of forms, so it's not advisable to waffle.
If you have any questions please email Helen and have a look at the work of IFMSA.
