Global & Public Health Networks
Alma Mata

Alma Mata is a network for all health professionals who are interested in global health issues. Launched in 2005 by a group of international health graduates and health professionals, there are now over 600 members across the globe. Alma Mata is quite different from Medsin, in that they do not seek to be an 'active' organisation in terms of global health campaigning or projects. Instead they act as a tool to facilitate change in global health by being an accessible source of information on the latest global health issues and a forum for discussion and sharing of research. IFMSA
The International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA) is an independent, non-governmental and non-political federation of medical students' associations throughout the world.
In 2007 IFMSA had 102 National Member Organizations from 100 countries on six continents and represented more than 1 million medical students worldwide. Click here for further information.
People's Health Movement (PHM)
The People’s Health Movement is a global grassroots organisation whose goal of is to re-establish health and equitable development as top priorities in local, national and international policy-making, with comprehensive primary health care as the strategy to achieve these priorities.
Medsin is a member of the PHM, and at the AGA 2006 we endorsed the 'People's Health Charter' which is a tool for organisations committed to making the Alma-Ata dream of 'Health for All', a reality.
