Drug Abuse… so close to home:

Mr. Howard Roberts, Dept. Chief Constable, Nottinghamshire police has the talk "Should heroin be prescribed to drug addicts to reduce crime?"

Caroline Thompson, a Framework nurse, will talk about her experience with the rehabilitation of drug addicts.

Access to Medicines:

Dr Ifthikhar will talk about the access to Essential Medicines in the event of a Natural Disaster. The S. E. Asia Earthquake shook the lives of millions. Dr Ifthikhar will tell us how the emergency services react after such natural disasters.

Dr. Huss, Uni. of Leeds will talk about the conflict between the Indian Government and the pharmaceutical company Novartis to highlight the ethical dilemmas of pharmaceutical companies. The price and financial accessibility of medicines, development of new medicines, monopolization through patents will also be discussed.

Dr Gilles de Wildt will be advancing the concept of the TRIPS agreement: constructive alternative policies for pricing, patenting and research and development.

Saturday 24th February Conference costs £4 that includes Lunch. Costs £2.50 to get to Queen’s Medical Centre from Nottingham train station.
