Diagnosis Inadequate: COP15 outcomes and conclusions
From 350.org
Extensive analysis of the Copenhagen talks has been put forth by pundits across the political spectrum. In many ways, the scientific bottom line is the most important story here, and it's a story that few are telling.
Which is why we're so grateful to the scientists and statisticians and Climate Interactive, who have presented us with these stark figures about the proposals on the table. Here's the scoreboard right now.

Or, with a bit more detail:

A small team of Medsinners attended the Copenhagen climate change conference along with a bunch of superstars from the Climate and Health Council and the IFMSA.
With the conference now over, we leave Copenhagen with more than a hint of distaste for what's been achieved. After 2 weeks of negotiations and rhetoric, we emerge from the conference with no legally-binding framework for action; instead a further statement from world leaders that brings us only baby steps closer to a roadmap for climate justice. We've attached the final draft of the Copenhagen Accord to this page for you to read and consider for yourself.
BUT! This is not the end, but the beginning. We demonstrated this week the voice and power of the health community at the conference. We've had hundreds following our blog (the statistics have been awesome!) all week, and taking actions in their cities to bring to world leaders this week. We've made our diagnosis on the conference, but our prescription for a safe future is still up for grabs. Contact us at copenhagen@medsin.org if you want to remain involved, and a HUGE thanks to all of you for your hard work these past 2 weeks (especially Sunil!!).
