Annual Calendar
Here are some of the major things that happen in the course of the Medsin Year.
September
Autumn General Assembly - Southampton
A chance for Medsin members to meet to discuss the running of the organisation and for voting members (Branches, nationally recognised Projects and Campaigns) to decide the plans for the upcoming year.
This year it will be in Southampton on the 22nd/23rd Septmeber. To find out more go to the AGA webpage.
October
National Conference - Dundee
A weekend of themed talks and workshops from a range of eminent speakers on the subject of Global and Local Health. This is also a great place for socialising with like-minded medics from all over the country and strengthing the network of projects and campaigns.
This year, Dundee will host the national conference on the theme of 'Population and Health'. 26th-28th October. Please go here or see the National Conference website for more information.
March
IFMSA March Meeting - Mexico
A chance for Medsin to be represented on an international level. Medsin members apply to be on the delegation to the conference with applications usually opening in September.
2006 saw a fantastic March Meeting in Chile, 2007 in Perth, Australia. 2008 Mexico!
Global Health Conference - Oxford
Similar to the National Conference, but with even more an international angle. Last year's conference was at Newcastle, with plenaries on topics such as Maternal and Child Health in the developing world, infectious and chronic diseases and workshops on everything from Trade Justice to Malaria.
In 2008 the Global Health Conference will be held in Oxford on 29th-30th March. Go to their website for more information.
April
Spring General Assembly
This is where members get the chance to represent their branches, campaigns and projects and to vote on lots of important things that affect the running of Medsin as an organisation.
This assembly is especially important as this is when a new national committee is elected for coming academic year.
In 2007, this was held next to the Albert Hall in London!
