Rio+20 - Write to your MP
Background
The Earth Summit in Rio de Janieor, Brazil in 1992 paved the way for Climate Change Negotiations. This summit produced the UN Convention on Climate Change, which later developed into the Kyoto Protocol.
20 years later, Rio are hosting the Rio+20 Summit. World leaders will come together with other government representatives, the private sector, NGOs and civil society to discuss:
1) A green economy in the context of sustaibable development poverty eradication
2) the Institutional framework for sustainable development
In plain(er) English, the discussions will include discussions on environmental sustainability, social equity and poverty reduction.
Action
1) Write to your MP and urge them to sign the UK Rio Declaration. This action has been organised by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition
