Action of the week
Act now to protect the Global Fund
Background
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria is the most effective and important organisation fighting the three diseases anywhere on the world. Since its creation in 2002 the Fund has contributed to supporting 2.5 million more people on life saving ARVs, detected and treated over 6 million cases of TB and have distributed over 104 million insecticide treated malaria bednets.
However, despite its track record of success the Global Fund has announced it is cancelling its 11th round of funding, due in large part to donors not meeting their commitments. The UK has traditionally been a strong supporter of the Global Fund so we are calling on our government to stand up and give new, much needed money to the Global Fund.
