Constitution
You can download the Medsin Constitution and Bylaws here. If there's anything you don't like... Make your changes at the next Medsin General Assembly.
Why do we need a constitution?
To fulfill and maintain our charity status, Medsin must have a governing document. In addition, the IFMSA also insists that we have one. Finally, it is useful to confirm what responsibilities we have to each other and what our guiding ideas are, to prevent us from losing focus.
Where did the constitution come from?
The Constitution was initially created using three documents as a guide:
- Charity Commission's model governing document
- The IFMSA's Constitution and Bylaws
- Medsin policy document written by the 2001-2002 National Committee
In addition, the experiences and feedback from past Medsin members also contributed to the creation of the Constitution.
How do I make changes to the Constitution & Bylaws?
The Constitution and Bylaws were adopted in May 2004 and since then have been amended. The document is active, which means that members of the Medsin Network can shape it into what they want. If you don't like part X.Y, then you can submit a motion to change it at either General Assembly or during an Extraordinary Meeting of Medsin-UK. The motion will then be discussed and voted on by the voting members.
